Byron's Story
Byron at his first personal training session with Breaking Point
Having recently completed a degree in sport and exercise science, I can be quite sceptical of a personal trainer's knowledge and ability to provide sustainable workout programs and goals. I briefly worked with personal trainers in a local gym but found them all to be focused purely on the session at hand, and lacked the ability to provide a working "team" relationship that focuses on both short term and long term goals.

At our initial consultation Darren recorded our goals and reasons for achieving them, one of which was to lose weight for my upcoming trip to the US. The 7 weeks training I did with Darren enabled me to do everything whilst on my holiday. I was particularly concerned about the plane trip and also whether I'd be able to fit into some of the rides at Disneyland and Universal Studios, but I was able to do EVERYTHING.

I am really looking forward to working on our next goal, which is to obtain a body weight of less than 100kg. Above all Darren has facilitated a positive mental attitude toward achieving this goal and a positive mental attitude, especially in this field, is an absolutely indespensible pre requisite for success.

A Huge Step

I first saw Darren and his Breaking Point van in our local suburb, and after driving past him on numerous occasions, feeling guilty at my lack of fitness and motivation, I thought I’d pull over and check things out. His friendly, welcoming and professional attitude had me intrigued and I drove home to contemplate my current situation. Long story short, I finally dragged my butt off the couch and signed up. A HUGE step for me!

After our initial fitness assessment I realised how unfit I was and how much work I needed to do, but with Darren and Rowena’s help and guidance, things started to take shape (including my gut!!). The motivation I get from working out with a great bunch of like-minded people is unreal. They really pull you along and encourage you and I know I couldn’t do it without them (thanks guys).

Every session was different so boredom never set in and we always managed to have a few laughs along the way. Cardio work is a big thing at Breaking Point (so don’t think you will explode into the Hulk after a few sessions!), which really helped my fitness level as well as shifting the weight.

At the end of the course, you get put through a final assessment and Darren gives you a comparison chart to show how far you have come and I’ll tell you it’s amazing the results you can achieve!

Darren and Rowena are awesome! Whether you want to come along to kick start your fitness routine or you want to go hard and achieve results these guys are there every step of the way to guide, help and motivate you. I am now on my third Breaking Point Fitness Camp and loving every minute of it (even if it is hard work!). I have managed to lose 12 kg to date and can feel and see the difference in my attitude, mental well-being and my waistline!

This is now our third bootcamp with Breaking Point Fitness and we LOVE IT. Not only has it improved our health and fitness but it is also lots of FUN!

Darren always manages to think of new ways to challenge us and to make each session interesting. He also creates a very friendly and motivating environment.

Prior to starting bootcamp, we rarely made time for regular exercise however now having started bootcamp we now look forward to each session and I don’t think we have ever felt as fit and healthy as we do now.

Darren and Rowena are both fantastic trainers and are always encouraging everyone to achieve their best. We have also met lots of great people whom also contribute to the fun and motivating environment.

We are looking forward to continuing with Breaking Point Fitness and improving our fitness even further.

I found my love for fitness again!

I started bootcamp with Breaking Point because I needed a kick start in motivation. It was always my aim to get stronger and fitter…not necessarily thinner. I was amazed at how much improvement I gained in the first 10 weeks in my core strength and lower body strength. I actually did end up losing 7cms from my hips in my first 10 weeks which was a huge surprise because I really didn’t think I had that much to lose! But more importantly I found my love for fitness again!

I had no hesitation in signing up for another round of 10 weeks and I am happy to say that I have just completed a triathlon( first time after an 18 month break) and I did an awesome time. I know I could never have achieved that without the structure and guidance of Breaking Point to start the ball rolling. I will be doing one triathlon a month now for the next 5 months and I feel completely ready and confident in doing so.

Every session has been fun…and I mean EVERY session and I have made lots of friends and enjoyed being part of a group of like minded individuals.

I have found Darren and Rowena to be great motivators without being aggressive and pushy and they have taught me that you only get from a session what you put in. This has made me dig a little deeper and find that I can achieve a lot more from myself than I thought I could. I have lost count how many people have commented how fit and well I am looking now that I have been attending Breaking Point. It is nice to have the old fit me back again.

Pre-season training
Rob highly recommends Breaking Point to anybody looking for a highly motivated and fun way of getting into shape
I initially enrolled with Breaking Point Fitness boot camp to shed a few kilos and for some pre-season training before the Baseball season started.

After being out of Baseball for a few years my fitness, speed and coordination had slipped to a point I was not proud of.

With Darren and Rowena’s help and motivation I was able to shed 4kg and have also increased my strength, speed and overall fitness to levels that far exceeded my expectations.

The level of improvement I was able to achieve in the first 10weeks is a credit to both Darren and Rowena’s expertise and dedication to helping you get the results you want.

They bring a variety to training I have not experienced before and actually make training a lot of fun that keeps you interested.

The people in the group are fantastic and it has almost become a social experience. We all have a lot of fun and the support and encouragement spread by the whole group creates a real team environment. This makes me really look forward to coming to boot camp each week.

I wouldn’t have gotten back into fitness training if it wasn't for the Personal Trainers at Breaking Point Fitness Camp. Darren and Rowena keep me motivated to continue with my workouts and are always happy to answer my questions and to provide suggestions to improve my training. I am now on my 3rd boot camp I am now officially addicted! After starting in May this year the past 5 months has been a ball of fun, energy and definitely motivating sessions to keep me fighting fit. Although I was not overweight, I needed to tone up, increase my cardio, build a bit of muscle and feel energized instead of tired.

The Breaking Point trainers Darren & Rowena have been a joy to "work out" for and it’s a real team effort. Not only do you work hard for the trainers you work hard for your team mate - for they too are your motivation to improve your overall fitness.

There is only one word to sum up Breaking Point Bootcamp, and that is FANTASTIC... BRILLIANT... AMAZING... ok that's 3 words...!!!!!

I started bootcamp about 14 weeks ago, and was determined to loose weight after having my daughter 7 months ago, I put on over 28 kilo, and just couldn't find an exercise programme that I enjoyed, and could stick to, I tried the gym, and aerobics, but I just could not get motivated. My friend told me she had joined bootcamp, and did I want to go with her, so reluctantly I joined.

The first session was very hard we had to do a fitness assessment, which I can tell you nearly killed me, but I stayed with it, and I am so glad I did.

Every session Darren does is fun all the way, don't get me wrong its also very hard, every part of you're body gets targeted, but after 14 weeks of bootcamp I have never been so toned, and fit, or have I managed to loose so much weight in such a short time, even when I was in my 20's

I have lost all of the weight I gained through pregnancy and more, thanks to Darren's advice and healthy eating plan.

I assume you are reading this testimonial because you are interested in bootcamp. Well, my advice is to give it a go, you can only but love it.

After 10 weeks of bootcamp, there is a 2 week break, but I loved it so much I asked Darren to carry on and got a few people to stay with it, he took us all to Suttons beach, which was fantastic, training by the sea was so much fun, and Darren was more than happy to carry on with our training sessions.

Thanks Darren and Rowena, for all your support and motivation, I will miss it so much, and I just hope I can find something as good back in the UK .I doubt it very much though...............

A New Lease On Life

I joined the last boot camp 10 weeks ago because I had just had enough of feeling tired, overweight and sluggish!  It’s the best decision I have ever made.  I have never been so fit in my life and its wonderful!  I am running around with my 2 boys and THEY cant keep up with me!  I lost 2kilo in the first 10 weeks, however I did not change my diet at all and I did lose 21cm’s.

  Previously I have tried the gym, swimming, I bought a treadmill and nothing came close to what the Boot camp has done for me.  I have always felt like I would not be able to keep up or would not fit in with a fitness group.  How wrong I was, the people are really great to work with, supportive and motivational – I really look forward to my work outs instead of dreading it!  Being part of a team is really inspirational.  I have a new lease on life!

I feel like I have my old self back again

I can't thank Darren & Rowena enough for their commitment to getting me back to the fit & active person that I used to be.

I contacted Darren to talk about joining his bootcamp when my friend Marie had decided she'd had enough & wanted to "get fit" again. Well, I thought to myself - with a huge sinking feeling - I have to do this too - or I'll be left behind!!

I rang Darren & had a talk with him about my situation & what's been stopping me from exercising over the years. Having had 2 strokes before I was 35, but also having once been a very fit & active person - I think I too had finally "had enough" & wanted to see if I could get back into better shape than I was in at the time.

Now you must understand I had tried over the years to keep up some level of physical activity, but never seemed to be able to find a good fit with the trainers/gym/workout times etc etc or the muscle cramping from the strokes would be the perfect excuse to stop - there was always an excuse which always seemed very plausible at the time....

Talking with Darren just seemed easy - he was very supportive of my joining his bootcamp & very willing to work around any limitations I might encounter with the program. The actual program itself has been remarkable. Darren & Rowena's support and unfaltering belief that I could not only get through the training sessions - but actually do all the exercises - helped me to believe in my body's abilities again.

I've successfully completed the first 10 weeks of training - & not only did I lose 11.5cm from my body measurements, much more importantly for me - I've been able to truly exercise again - I'm now jogging every day and I feel like I have my old self back again.

I have met wonderful people through bootcamp - who each have their own stories as to why they are there & they all inspire me to keep going. We also have a great laugh along the way! I'm now into my 2nd 10 week program & am really feeling very proud of myself. I'll be continuing with this program as long as Darren is running it!

So my sincere thanks to Darren & Rowena - you're fantastic!

Bootcamp junky?
Lorraine, after 23 weeks of hard work, is very pleased with her results
I enrolled with Breaking Point Fitness bootcamp because I was wanting to increase my fitness levels and to tone up. I had already been attending the gym at work, but each day that I went, all I did was just go through the motions without putting in any real effort. Darren’s Bootcamp keeps everyone motivated and he ensures that you give it all that you have (which at times is more than you think you have). I am always wanting to improve on my previous best times and repetitions.

After 23 weeks of hard work I am very pleased with the results. I wouldn’t keep coming back if I wasn’t. Some of my work colleagues think that I’m either stupid or a glutton for punishment and they call me a ‘bootcamp junky’. At the age of 52 I felt that I also needed to do something that would keep me feeling energised. Darren’s bootcamp certainly does that.

Apart from all of the hard work that everyone puts in, we also have lots of fun. You get to meet other great people who have many of the same goals in mind and who also offer that much needed encouragement.

Thanks to both Darren and Rowena for providing that motivation and for making each session one that makes you feel like you want to go back for more.

Support, motivation and professionalism are three words that best describe Darren and Breaking Point Fitness Camp. I started my first boot camp 23 weeks ago and was very sceptical of what was involved and how much pain I would be put through. I remember seeing Darren’s van on the first night and seeing his motto: Pain is Temporary, Pride is forever. I was a CBD office worker who did nothing other than eat, drink, work and drink more. I was fat and I had no pride in myself!

After the first evening’s assessment, I felt sore but great. I knew that this was going to be the change of my life. I have since completed 3 consecutive fitness camps and have also lost 14 ½ kilos. I feel great. I am motivated, full of energy and ready to push myself 110% every session. My fitness levels are remarkably higher than I would have expected, I gain compliments daily on how well I look and how fit I look. I have tried gym memberships prior and also group fitness with work colleagues; however this is the best out there. Trainers, Darren and Rowena are personable, motivating and very, very thorough. Without Darren and Rowena, I would not have been able to succeed as well as I have!

Unlike other boot camps, Darren and Rowena are accepting of your training abilities and adapt their training sessions to meet the group’s levels, however also adding an element of variety to allow yourself to push and gain results. The larger group training sessions also allow you to meet new people and possibly develop long lasting friendships. I would strongly recommend anyone who is interested in trying giving it a go – remember Pain is temporary, however your Pride is forever!
